Black Light Bug Hunt

When: Fri., Aug. 16, 8-11 p.m. 2013
Price: $5-$8

n.c. Museum of Life and Science—You see them latched onto the screen door or robotically binging against the porch light. Night bugs. Even if you cringe a little, you're likely fascinated by glimpses into this unfamiliar realm. For one fun family night, the entomologists at the North Carolina Museum of Life and Science will lead you headlong into that realm, hosting an after-dark safari of the insects of the night. They'll use black lights along the Wetland boardwalk to attract moths, beetles and other nocturnal insects. Register online in advance and bring your flashlight. Recommended for ages 5 and up.—Chris Vitiello
