BJ Barham | Slim's Downtown | Clubs & Concerts | Indy Week
This is a past event.

BJ Barham

When: Mon., July 6, 8 p.m. 2015
Price: $15
BJ Barham hits the road hard with his blue-collar alt-country act American Aquarium, so his home in Raleigh must seem sweeter, given the hundreds of days out of each year he spends apart from it. He also loves Slim’s, and not because he goes there to pound beer (not anymore, at least). No, the dive and rock club holds a special place in the songwriter’s heart. On a good night, the intimate, unpretentious and properly gritty room is the perfect home for country boy confessionals, songs about letting mama down and lyrical nods to the Wolfpack. Considering that his band will open for Dwight Yoakam on Hopscotch’s main stage in September and that they sold out two successive nights at Lincoln Theatre earlier this year, it’s a safe bet this solo show will fill the intimate environment, Monday or not. —Corbie Hill
