Bill Payne: Tracing Footsteps -- A Journal of Music, Photography & Tales From the Road

When: Mon., June 24, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $25-28

Keyboardist Bill Payne was a co-founder (with Lowell George) of Little Feat before going on to play with a galaxy of '70s stars, including the Doobie Brothers, Jimmy Buffett and James Taylor. That era's crisp, silky production infuses his 2005 instrumental jazz-roots fusion debut Cielo Norte. (Think a more musically rigorous Kitaro.) He also still performs with Little Feat, who last summer released their first new album in nine years, Rooster Rag. Payne, who co-wrote many of Little Feat's songs, is the current lineup's sole remaining original member. Expect to hear some of those Feat tunes at this show, which includes a display of Payne's photographs taken across his career. —Chris Parker
