Big Boi | Memorial Auditorium | Clubs & Concerts | Indy Week
This is a past event.
When: Sat., Sept. 21, 8 p.m. 2013
Big Boi canceled his Hopscotch appearance scheduled for two weeks ago, but he makes up for his absence with this show, the first solo appearance in Raleigh for the former OutKast member. On his own, Big Boi has been a wily, Dirty South experimentalist, finding ways to collaborate with indie acts Wavves and Phantogram as well as new-school rap spitters Yelawolf and trap-rap hero T.I. He's joined by fellow Atlanta rapper Killer Mike, who has been on a Public Enemy-meets-Lil' Jon crunk-funk tear over the past two years, working closely with producer El-P on 2012's R.A.P. Music and this year's even more fervid Run the Jewels, a free download. Big Boi will take the stage at 11 p.m. in an attempt to accommodate fans who already purchased tickets for the Red Hat Amphitheater show by Sigur Ros. —Brandon Soderberg
