Re: “Well shoot, Legislature to debate expanding gun rights

It is difficult to get someone with a different opinion to see it your way. This is particularly evident when it comes to Liberal vs. Conservative or Democrat vs. Republican and Pro-gun vs. Anti-gun. However, it is hard for any of the aforementioned to argue that Criminals didn't give a flip about the law at Virginia Tech and Congresswoman Gifford's Town Hall meeting. It is a real shame someone with a concealed carry permit and armed was not at these terrible events. Did the law in these instances stop the Criminal? There are many other such examples and I am certain the Anti-gun person will not have a problem when and if their life is saved in a similar situation. They might even inquire as to who is armed and want to be near them. Can you imagine that? It can only happen when the law abiding citizen is permitted to be armed in these situations as these citizens will not break the law and take a gun where it is prohibited. Obviously it will not stop the Criminal.

Re: “Make state taxes fair (or fair-er, anyway): What Perdue could've done

The State of NC collects a 7.75% sales tax in my county and maybe more in yours. In addition they have an income tax ranging from 6 to 7%. Now they have the lottery and don't forget the fees you pay for car tags, license, etc. Still it is not enough. Some say tax the people that have achieved a higher paying job through hard work and college degrees because they can pay it and the under achiever can't. Duh!! This sate had a one billion dollar surplus not to long ago because the tax rates were too high. Did they lower the tax rate and give the money back or even save it for a rainy day. No they increased spending spent the surplus and raised taxes. If you spent your employer’s money like this you would be fired. Temporary taxes become permanent taxes. Enough is enough stop wasting our money NC.
