Re: “The Refectory Cafe

The Refectory is no longer on the Duke Campus. Their new, permanent location is on Chapel Hill Blvd, and yes they are open for dinner at night.

Their vast selections of local, organic, vegan, and sustainable fish and meat offerings are outstanding. This place is a treasure. I adore going there for a long, leisurely Sunday brunch, or bringing out of town guests, to pampered with table service at night.

And the desserts are incredible. A true Durham treasure.

Re: “Opinion: McCrory’s mean joke, a poet laureate who’s barely a poet

I despise what McCrory did. But what you and the other media are saying about his woman makes me even sicker.

Your nasty little, "She’s a bureaucrat, commuting to her Department of Health and Human Services job from her Fuquay-Varina home—a hobbyist poet" is so arrogant and condescending; and yes, I detect a whiff of sexist attitude there, too. You do NOT know what is in her heart. And NO ONE, no matter how talented or amateurish, who attempts to write poetry should EVER EVER be humiliated like YOU are doing.

Shame on YOU, IndyWeek (who I ordinarily love). This is absolutely below-the-belt unfair of you. I feel so sorry for her, and respect her courage to step down.
