Benji Hughes, The Feeds, Maldora

When: Sat., Feb. 21, 10 p.m. 2015
Price: $8-$10
With sexy slow jams and outgoing rock tunes, Charlotte’s Benji Hughes is a prolific perfectionist. He works up large amounts of sparkling pop-rock and polishes it until he’s satisfied. While he looks like a lost member of ZZ Top, he sounds like Beck with a greater affinity for ’70s soul and classic rock. But Hughes’ studio eccentricities have limited his career: He didn’t follow up his popular 2008 double-album, A Love Extreme, until last year, loading three new albums onto flash drives emblazoned with his visage. The material was worth the wait, but who is still listening? —Jordan Lawrence
