Benefit for Savina Amalfitano with Old Painless, Torch Runner, Mad Dog, Last Words, Pure Scum

When: Wed., March 7, 8 p.m. 2012
Price: $5-7

The motive for this quintuple-header of loud-fast locals is the young daughter of L.A. grindcore musician Sergio Amalfitano, who needs heart surgery. Greensboro's Torch Runner unloads fitful grindcore lacerated with crooked guitar lines. Old Painless shades shrieking power violence with lyrics that might inspire a Criminal Minds screenwriter. Mad Dog's heavy, plodding style counters Last Words' raw and driving hardcore. Pure Scum opens. —Bryan Reed
