Basil Twist | UNC Campus: Memorial Hall | Special Events | Indy Week
This is a past event.
When: Fri., April 12, 8 p.m. and Sat., April 13, 8 p.m. 2013
Price: $25

Broadway regulars have enjoyed the twisted puppetry of Basil Twist in such Great White Way fare as The Pee Wee Herman Show and The Addams Family, and now Triangle residents will get to see the premiere of his reinvention of The Rite of Spring. Twist's work has included everything from an underwater puppet show (Symphonie Fantastique) to fairy tales (Hansel and Gretel) to absurdist, existential drama (Ionesco's Exit the King, for which he designed puppets in a Duke production a few years ago). This performance, which features a full orchestra and puppets in a "ballet without dancers," also includes a post-show discussion with Twist on Friday. —Zack Smith
