Although Orange County author Barbara Claypole White has been writing and publishing for years, The Unfinished Garden (Harlequin MIRA) is her first novel. It's a story of loss, love and leap-taking: Tilly Silverberg, hiding from the grief of her husband's death in a self-imposed retreat of work, single-parenting and gardening, meets James Nealy, a successful software developer at the mercy of his own haunted mind. Through twists and turns, Tilly and James make a garden together in which they grow more than flowers and face their demons. As Tilly says, "You needed jolts of fear, little hits of adrenaline, to appreciate the buzz of life." —Chris Vitiello
