Bands For Hamid

When: Sun., Aug. 15, 4 p.m. 2010
Price: $10

Earlier this year, Hamid Mohajer, the proprietor of Mo's Diner in Raleigh, went to the doctor for back pain and came out with the devastating news that he had Stage IV lung cancer, which had spread to his spine. The treatment has been aggressive; the medical bills, crippling.

Friends for Hamid, a benefit showcase featuring Static Minds, Richard Bacchus & the Luckiest Girls, Greg Humphreys, Jeanne Jolly, Mommie, Starmount and Maldora, is just one in a string of events planned to assist Hamid and his wife, Holly, as they fight the disease while trying to keep their lives and their beloved restaurant afloat.

"I certainly hope that our participation can, in some small way, be helpful toward easing the burden that these folks are under," says Starmount's Greg Elkins. "Our band's contribution is minimal, but we are happy to make the effort regardless." Donate $10 at 4 p.m., and visit for more info about Hamid and more events where you can help. —Ashley Melzer
