Band Together's "Last Band Standing" Fundraiser with House of Fools, Lonnie Walker, Filthybird, Chris Hendricks Band

When: Fri., April 8, 8 p.m. 2011
Price: $10-15

Alliance Medical Ministry offers health care to the uninsured on a sliding scale. The faith-based, nonprofit clinic is able to see 700 uninsured patients a month, while WakeMed sees 600 on an average day, according to each care provider's website. One fundraiser may not close that gap, but it does help keep Alliance open. This battle of the bands is a precursor to the clinic's annual charity event. This year's contenders pack Southern classic rock (House of Fools), mid-'90s alt rock (Chris Hendricks Band), shambling indie (Lonnie Walker) and folk-rockish tunes that deftly dodge classification (Filthybird). The winner gets to open for Third Eye Blind on May 7, but the real focus is keeping this clinic from going under. The show starts at 8 p.m.; tickets are $10 advance, $15 day of show. VIP tickets are $50 advance, $60 day of show. —Corbie Hill
