Balsam Range, Long Leaf Pine Nuts

When: Thu., June 30, 6 p.m. 2016
Price: free
Anyone who has been paying attention since the IBMA’s World of Bluegrass moved to Raleigh should be plenty familiar with Balsam Range. Already accomplished as individual musicians, the members of this Western North Carolina quintet have amassed a collection of major IBMA trophies that includes best entertainer, album, song, and vocal group during the last three years. As Balsam Range wraps up a decade as a group, those awards point to a band at the top of contemporary bluegrass, thanks to sharp picking, stirring harmonies, and songs with a strong sense of place. —Spencer Griffith
