Azizi Gibson, Remy Low

When: Thu., Nov. 10, 8:30 p.m. 2016
Price: $10-$12
Between his anime obsession, his three-year run on Flying Lotus’s freewheeling Brainfeeder label and a metal-esque branding flooded with skulls, skeletons, and coffins, Azizi Gibson is in many ways presented as a fresh new voice in hip-hop, yet also as another indie affront to the commercial rap establishment. His music, however, has yet to truly justify that claim. The L.A. artist’s close ties to Atlanta via 808 Mafia make for an interesting blend, but in an era drowning in trap, Gibson needs more than impressive connections to leave a mark. —Ryan Cocca
