Starting this month, the Carolina hosts The New York Film Critics Series, where big-name indie films receive one-night-only local premieres in advance of their nationwide openings. As if seeing movies before the rest of the country weren't enough of a draw, each screening is followed by a high-definition video interview with the film's actors and director, broadcast live from New York City. This month's title is At Middleton, the story of an eccentric businesswoman (Vera Farmiga) and an uptight surgeon (Andy Garcia) whose paths collide while accompanying their children on a college tour. It's a modern meet-cute for the working-parent set. —Emma D. Miller
