ARTQUILTSwhimsy | Page-Walker Arts & History Center | Arts | Indy Week
This is a past event.

When: April 23-June 22 2014
Quilting can be the perfect marriage of function and form. Obviously, a quilt can keep you warm on a chilly evening. It can transport you, invoking memories (or, sometimes, fantasies) of simpler times and familial embraces. Comfort and sentimentality aside, quilts can also be astonishing art, with detailed craft creating landscapes, portraits and fascinating geometry. Check out 44 examples of high-quality quilting by 37 artists at ARTQUILTSwhimsy! with work selected by jurors Bryan Ellis, a design faculty member at UNC-G and Wake Forest, and Nancy Cook, a professional art quilter from Charlotte. The exhibition is under the auspices of PAQA-South, a group of professional artists promoting innovative fiber and quilting arts. Get wrapped up in it. —Curt Fields
