"Artistic Trajectories: Voices in Contemporary Photography"

When: Sat., Sept. 29, 6 p.m. 2012

Compared to painting and literature, photography is a young medium. But the technological and stylistic changes it has gone through in its roughly 200 years are dramatic past the point of being overwhelming. East Carolina University gallery director Gilbert Leebrick moderates a panel of regional luminaries who will talk through contemporary trends in the photographic arts as the busy schedule of the "FRANK: In Focus" festival reaches its midpoint. Bring a notebook to this one, as panelists will show examples of current artists' work. Speakers include artist and UNC professor Jeff Whetstone, Chapel Hill photographer Lori Vrba and ECU professor emeritus Jacquelyn Leebrick. The 6 p.m. event is free. —Chris Vitiello
