Artist Salon

When: Thu., Nov. 15, 7:30-10:30 p.m. 2012
Price: Free

Successful community organizations are like tuning forks. They emit—as a clear, resonant note in the din of an orchestral city—some kind of fulfillment of a civic need. And people come to the organization to tune their own instruments to that note. Two such organizations—The Carrack Modern Art and Mercury Studio (one of several new co-working hubs that cater to the Bull City's creative and entrepreneurial set)—are partnering to host monthly casual artist salons to provide an opportunity for networking and critique in a social, fun atmosphere. Artists are encouraged to bring current projects to share; collectors, curators and anyone interested in the arts are encouraged to get to know the artists and their work. The idea is that you'll leave with your own personal tone amplified. Mercury Studio Art Director Megan Jones and Carrack Director Laura Ritchie host the evenings. The studio is located at 407 N. Mangum St., and the free event runs 7:30–10:30 p.m. —Chris Vitiello
