AroarA, Organos, Robes

When: Thu., Oct. 18, 10 p.m. 2012
Price: Free

This is such a great match. Brainchild of counterintuitive bassist and songwriter Maria Albani, Organos specializes in playful, short-form ditties that stick almost immediately. A mix of basic art pop with unlikely textures and layered vocals made this past spring's Concha an enduring little 20-minute take. AroarA's music is more carefully composed and comes on thicker, but there's something equally playful and reckless about this duo as well. Andrew Whiteman (of Broken Social Scene) and his wife Ariel Engle compose unlikely, stream-of-consciousness fringe-folk and make it work. Robes opens the 10 p.m. show, which is free. Organos and AroarA also share a 10 p.m. bill at The Pinhook on Saturday with Ama Divers, a new project from the principals of Filthybird. —Corbie Hill
