During the past three decades, Charlotte punk vets Antiseen have changed little but accomplished much. The band has rarely strayed far from a meaty, simple punk-rock core and aggressive gigs that often end with frontman Jeff Clayton’s forehead smeared in blood. In turn, they’ve backed GG Allin and written concept albums about professional wrestling. Pipe, local vets who straddle the boundary of indie rock and punk, is similarly notable for the beer-can-launching rowdiness its shows can inspire. —Bryan C. Reed
