"Once I get my bearings, they go and they redraw the maps," sings Simon McGorman on "They," from Animal Alphabet's debut EP, Adult Teeth. It's a paranoid observation, of course, suggesting that some ubiquitous but unnamed group creeps in and rearranges furniture and moves up clocks. That ominous suspicion is an anchor of the band's dark chamber-rock sound. Beautiful textures underlie worried narratives populated by misfits and unsavory life lessons. Meanwhile, Christopher Bell's whirlwind of electronic cello, keys and beatbox beats brings a surge of energy in any room. With a loop pedal handy, Bell creates percussive, operatic folk with pop ease. Justin Johnson opens. —Ashley Melzer
