Anezina Mirage

When: Wed., Oct. 10, 7 p.m. 2012
Price: Free

Maybe you've seen Renaissance woman Alexis Mastromichalis gathering brambles and vines along East Durham streets over the last month or so. She's been carefully drying, weaving and bundling them to use in a one-woman, site-specific dance performance at the Carrack, adopting her performance persona Anezina Mirage. Mastromichalis' performance is part of a weeklong series of "Community Color" events at the Carrack celebrating the dynamic gallery's first birthday and leading up to a large fundraising event on Saturday. The no-commission space's ticketed culminating event features a live art auction run by best-selling Durham author Dan Ariely, who will also give a brief talk on the history and styles of auctions. Some of the bio-weaving from Mastromichalis' event will be on the block Saturday night. She performs free shows at 7 and 8 p.m. —Chris Vitiello
