Re: “In separation agreement, Chief Lopez and City of Durham agree not to publicly bash each other

This is Durham. The astute reader has to wonder what the Chief has on the City Council, and what the City Council has on the Chief. Trevor Hampton anyone?

Re: “Tasers, trespassing and Twitter at the Harris Teeter

Just to clarify, if the young man in question had been asked to leave the store at some time prior (6 hours, 6 months, whenever) and then returned, that would constitute trespassing in and of itself. Whether or not he was in possession of any stolen goods would be irrelevant. There doesn't seem to be much substance to this story. There's no clear narrative of events, and the only eyewitness who was interviewed for the story did not see everything that happened, although she feels she would have heard a struggle. Three things about the story are interesting to me. The first is that a store would threaten someone with trespassing for videotaping. Seems a tad restrictive. Secondly, does an uninvolved person really believe that they can ask a store for security video and get it? Really? And thirdly, the gentrification of Durham, including the Harris Teeter and its sushi and micro brewery beer swilling denizens on the site where blue collar workers labored bled and suffered to earn an honest living sucks.
