Re: “Provenance of Craig Hicks' guns a mystery

All these unknowns are so troubling to the author of this story. Hicks has a demonstrated history of evil...purchasing a variety of firearms from places unknown, having a permit to carry a firearm either issued just days before his crime, or years ago, and due to expire any day. Why, on that very day, in fact, his permit could have had just hours to remain. We'll never know! And those scopes...those damn, dirty scopes! They should be banned as well.

What kind of insanity is this? Obviously, Mr. Tuckerr believes there should be a firearms registry, and the owners of concealed weapons permits should be tracked like sexual predators I suppose. Clearly Mr. Tuckerr has no knowledge of just what the Durham firearms registry most of the "arsenal" would have been unrecorded, not being handguns in the first place.

Perhaps Mr. Tuckerr would be happier if gun owners were ordered to turn in their firearms and ammunition without delay. Maybe he'll volunteer to knock politely on the first door with seizure order in hand. I wish him luck.

Re: “After teen's death in Raleigh, gun control advocates renew calls for reform

"While we don't know the details".....let's just go with the narrative that background checks are our foot in the door for registration and ultimately, confiscation of "evil" firearms. What Ms. Kaaren fails to tell us is how can we ever know a "background check" properly took place unless their is a perpetual record of it. Obviously, just taking the Seller's word that he/she conducted such a check won't be good enough for her and her gang. Additionally, its not spoken, but of course there's not nearly enough derogatory information even available upon which to make a background check decision in the first once we agree the check is necessary, then we can flesh out all the disqualifying activities that will prevent one from EVER owning a firearm at all. No, Moms, not going to happen on my watch...

Re: “Republicans are silent after voting to allow firearms at the State Fair

The author has a point...Republicans are silent on the issue....I expected them to speak proudly of their efforts to expand gun rights in the last session of the Legislature...and to proclaim that these new expansions did NOT, as many naysayers feared, result in Western style "shoot em' up's in bars where alcohol is served, or in places where admission is charged, or even in campus parking lots. No, instead they expect those who lawfully exercise these "privileges" bestowed upon us to bend over and take this judicial activism from the bench while they remain silent on the issue....after all, who are we going to vote for, Democrats?
I for one will remember. I for one will advocate running Primary opposition to those who merely "talk the talk" but are unwilling to "walk the walk".
Count on it!

Re: “One mother's attempt to stop gun violence

Ms. Haldeman...Greensboro will be holding a Gun Show this weekend ... I'll be at the table on both Sat & Sun from 0900 - 1300 hrs... come by and introduce yourself.... or send one of your paid political staffers... or a "true" volunteer like I am.....either way...I'll treat you or your representative to a cup of coffee ...and a friendly discussion. I've invited local politicians from Guilford County to attend... more than one has said they will... let's have a debate in the marketplace of ideas... take advantage of your 15 minutes of fame ... what say you?

Re: “One mother's attempt to stop gun violence

Oh, the questions for Ms. Haldeman...

(1) Lawful gun owners are also parent, Ms. you not give us credit for our "feelings" and our expectation that a difference in the law allowing a "Good Guy with a Gun" to be present at any one of these "GUN FREE = KILLING WITHOUT RISK ZONES might have made the difference? Must I point out the examples where it has? You claim intimate knowledge of the last thirty school guess where you might find an example or two?

(2) As Director, how much are you paid by former MAIG Mayor Michael Bloomberg or his shell organizations to infest North Carolina with liberal New York written, driven, and financed agendas? Additionally, how much do the 10 full time staff earn as "Paid Shills" for the anti-gun lobby? Are you all registered as lobbyists with the State of North Carolina? Are your donation solicitation certificates current with the NC Secretary of State? Have you filed the proper tax documents with the State and Federal governments? Are they public record where individuals can research them as required by law?

(3) Have you checked with Senator soon to be unelected Kay HAG(an) about whether she wants the Moms Demand Gun Control endorsement right now? You best let that sleeping dog lay...but since you brought it up we will gladly use such endorsements against her.

(4) Please prove your statement that 95 out of 100 business YOU have solicited actively and consciously posted their businesses against the lawful carry of concealed weapons. Members of your organization have already been identified surreptitiously placing "illegal" gun ban signs on business doors without the permission or knowledge of management and owners. Not very honorable actions by you "Moms Who Want the Laws to be Followed", now is it?

Finally, you often cite your strength in numbers....yet I fail to see any measurable presence at all throughout the state. In fact, I've attended numerous meeting of County and other local governments discussing firearms ordinances over the past several months....except for Chapel Hill, which, by the way, complied with GRNC'.org's demand that they NOT change their ordinance in opposition to State Law...I've not seen or heard from even one representative of MOMS DEMAND GUN BANS at all! Your victory in Chapel Hill...if you want to call it a victory!.... Since they did not rewrite the ordinance at all, the previously ordinance is "NULL AND VOID" thus allowing lawful concealed weapons in each and every one of Chapel Hill's 37 or more parks, greenways, and public spaces. So much for your group's effectiveness. Chapel Hill citizens, residents, and guests are enjoying a rare bit of freedom in the "Liberal Capital of North Carolina"...How about that!

Today, your "Mother Group" has taken to boycotting Facebook and going after not only the 2nd Amendment rights of citizens, but their First Amendment rights as well. Why not go all the way and just advocate for a complete repeal of the entire Bill of Rights? It's, after all, just words on paper to you and your ilk, isn't it?

You Michael Bloomberg, Nanny State, anti-freedom efforts will not bear fruit....and when your financial benefactors see that they are throwing money down a piss hole, they will soon find others to spend it on, leaving you, your 10 full time staffers, and your organization as a hollow, broken shell. which I say, the sooner the better.

Re: “Chapel Hill leaders question gun law; proponents threaten to sue

Just back from a similar discussion yesterday with the Commissioners of Ashe County...who wisely realized their existing, illegal ordinance was null and void, and further realizing attempting to place proper signage to ban what they "could" would be difficult, burdensome and expensive. At the end of the day, recognizing that CHP holders CAN be trusted...the Ashe County Commissioners chose to forgo any bans at their parks at all. Thanks for being there and speaking out for all of us!

The Chapel Hill Town Council faces the same dilemma... their existing ordinance is "null and void" meaning CHP holders can freely move about any and all Chapel Hill parks.....and guess what, they (CHP holders) are!
