While I think it's important to highlight some of the unscrupulous behavior by individuals, I think it distracts from the real structural remnants of racism that got us to this point. It's easy to point to gentrification that has developed in the past decade or so, but the real problem is this engrained notion that we can kick black people around to different neighborhoods as we see fit. In the past it was redlining or denying of home loans or straight up intimidation...same shit different name today. I hope some real progressive options are on the table in the local govt to help start to address the intentional harm that has been done to blacks. Can't just rely on others though, have to do my part too, maybe I'll figure out what that is soon.
