Re: “Club Boulevard decision delayed

"The breadth of the boulevard—40 feet—and the speed of 7,000–8,000 cars and trucks per day—make it a death-defying experience to cross the street."

I drive down Club during rush hour several times a week and I don't see why anyone is making a big deal out of this. If you want a narrow tree-lined residential street with heavy traffic and cars going 35+ mph, check out Duke, Gregson, University, Broad, etc. etc.. Compared to other similar streets around town, that portion of Club is the Lazy River. For a pretty major east-west thoroughfare, an average of five cars per minute (obeying the speed limit in my experience) is calm and doesn't call for a heated and passionate meeting. I seriously doubt that many people are avoiding their front porches because they consider this traffic situataion "inexorable."

HPC whining in Durham could be made into a weekly of its own, but I surely wouldn't read it.

Re: “Whiskey in downtown Durham is closing Aug. 2

Too bad for downtown, but this place was always too snooty for Durham

Re: “Pompieri Pizza vies as the Triangle's best

I can't think of many things that are less Durham than pizza snobbery.

Re: “Re: Best of the Triangle; Amendment 1

From a good book called the dictionary:

bigoted |ˈbigətid|
1) obstinately convinced of the superiority or correctness of one's own opinions and prejudiced against those who hold different opinions
2) expressing or characterized by prejudice and intolerance

There are a number of people on both sides of this issue who fit (1). (2) speaks for itself I think.
