All of Us North Carolina

When: Wed., April 17, 7 p.m. 2013
Price: $10

Raise your hand if you still have a "No on Amendment One" sign in your front yard. The months leading up to the vote on the state legislation that further denied same-sex partners their civil rights polarized the state and transformed large swaths of the Triangle population into activists. Sowjanya Kudva, a queer South Asian filmmaker based in Brooklyn, premieres her documentary All of Us North Carolina, which follows queer people of color in their fight against the legislation last year. Her screening of the 40-minute film will help raise money to develop an educational tool kit to go with it. Kudva, who graduated from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts in 2003, is an accomplished documentarian and music video producer. Vimala's Curryblossom Cafe and Bread Uprising will provide some tasty eats at the screening. —Chris Vitiello
