Re: “Born in the Shadow of N.C. State, Steeped in Parties and Punk Rock, Raleigh’s Historic Maiden Lane Will Soon Perish in the Name of Progress

I am heartbroken. We lived at 12 1/2 Maiden Lane during college in the early 80's, next door to what we considered a middle aged couple (looking back probably only late 30's). It was such a cool relaxed street mixed with Frats, students, working people and who knows what they did, but the dogs played and we all chatted and looked out for one another. That apartment had been passed down from student to student that worked at the Breakfast House at the corner. What has happened to that strip of Hillsborough street is a disgrace, no character across from the Bell Tower, just brick building after brick building
