Alex Kershaw, best-selling author of The Bedford Boys and The Longest Winter, revisits World War II in The Liberator: One World War II Soldier's 500-Day Odyssey from theBeaches of Sicily to the Gates of Dachau, the tale of Felix Sparks and the Thunderbird division. Sparks saw some of the worst the war had to offer in an astonishing run of just under two years that included losing his company at Anzio and discovering the horrors of the concentration camps. Kershaw will give a free talk presented by the Academy of Information Technology at Chapel Hill High School; copies of The Liberator, provided by Flyleaf Books, will be available, with a portion of the proceeds benefiting the Academy. The event begins at 7 p.m. —Zack Smith
