When: Thu., Oct. 15, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $7
Two months ago, Durham rapper Alex Aff dropped the fourth single from his upcoming LP, Forever. Titled “9th Wonder,” the song indeed pictured the emcee on its cover and mimicked his signature soul-chopping production. It’s a great token of idolization, but a far reach for recognition. Alex Aff gets self-congratulatory with lines like “These rap niggas/They ain’t fuckin’ with this/It sound like 9th Wonder on this.” Well, not quite. We’ve already been down 9th Wonder Street; we’re more interested in hearing what the new Triangle hip-hop generation sounds like. —Eric Tullis
