AJ Croce

When: Sun., Nov. 18, 7 p.m. 2012
Price: $20

The son didn't fall far from the songwriter with A.J. Croce. While undoubtedly shadowed by his father Jim's legacy, A.J. has no trouble distinguishing himself as more of a rocker, assisted by a soulful amble akin to '70s U.K. pub rockers like Graham Parker and Dave Edmunds. His facility with a hook (he's approached power pop at times) and somewhat nasal delivery also evoke Elvis Costello. Croce, who writes on piano and guitar, has built a sturdy grassroots following over the past two decades, releasing seven fairly eclectic albums. —Chris Parker
