Aida’s Turnovers
1501 Harrier Court
Durham 27713

Aida's Turnovers came into being due to some strange circumstances and an even stranger alignment of planets!

Aida was laid off from her job as an IT liaison, and Adam from his job as a manufacturing engineer. They loved to enjoy a cup of coffee with a savory something, but that Savory something was hard to find.

Aida was an avid cook. “Growing up, my mother always had something baking in the oven. Our house always smelled warm and cozy with the promise of something good to eat. I tried to bring this to my own home and family”. Adam made a mean cheese soufflé and a great fondue bourguignon.

It became evident that by putting their talents together a quality turnover could be produced to fill the savory vacuum. Adam bought a small plastic turnover mold, gave it to Aida, and the experiments began with different fillings, using Aida's mother's pastry recipe. Their two sons loved the product and suggested that they produce it on a commercial scale.

They acquired permits and licenses from the Health Department and the NC Department of Agriculture. Next they joined The Cookery, invested in buying two machines, and Aida’s Turnovers was born. Aida’s logo image is from a family carnelian locket that belonged to Aida’s mother.

Aida's Turnovers is now at the South Durham Farmers Market. The turnovers are well known and well received at the market. Today, savory aficionados finally have a favorite watering hole where their taste buds can be satisfied. The turnovers are available with Ground Turkey, Mushroom, Pea & Zucchini, Leek, Spinach and Savory Sweet potato fillings, each packaged individually with a Nutrifacts label. They can be ordered on line.
