Regal Brier Creek and North Hills cinemas—After a successful 2009–10 season, the Metropolitan Opera will be airing summer encores of its most popular shows at local theaters nationwide as a part of its Live in HD series. Giuseppe Verdi's Aida is the story of an Ethiopian princess who is captured and brought into slavery by the Egyptian pharaoh. This opera soon becomes a tragic love story as Radames, an Egyptian military commander, falls for Aida and must decide between his love for her and his country—all the while spurning the advances of the pharaoh's daughter Amneris. Seeing it on the big screen is almost as good as seeing it live on the Met stage. Both theaters will host the performance at 6:30 p.m. —Belem Destefani
