Dig In: A Community Gardens Event

Dig In: A Community Gardens Event

AHA Dig In

When: Sat., March 5 2011
Price: Free

There are several thrills to growing and harvesting your own food: the thrill of choosing what to sow, of teaching children that food doesn't grow on supermarket shelves, of eating fresh organic produce from your own garden, and—especially these days—of seeing a few extra greenbacks in your pocket. Whether on a little patio, in a large backyard or a vacant community lot, building and tending a garden is immensely satisfying work, and Advocates for Health in Action (AHA) is presenting its second annual community gardens summit—Dig In—to teach you how to do it. There will be presentations from urban farming and gardening experts, plus hands-on workshops and educational booths. The free event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Register online at AdvocatesForHealthInAction.org; space is limited. —Christina Cass
