Re: “Should Wake County Spend Up to $20 Million to Convert a Failed Fuquay-Varina Golf Course into a Park?

Why should the 1M+ citizens of Wake County invest in a piece of property enclosed by subdivisions in a town of 26K, when using those same funds could assist a larger, countywide audience? The proponents claim the location is perfect for a future elementary school. Currently, we can't pay our teachers enough to even be considered competitive and yet you're asking we invest in property where we could potentially build another school we can't afford to staff? Please do not spend any additional money on parks when our underpaid teachers, fireman and policeman continue to serve and protect without the hope of any increase in their compensation.
