Aesop Rock with Rob Sonic Homeboy, Sandman

When: Mon., March 2, 9 p.m. 2015
Price: $20
Thanks to the success of Run the Jewels, self-described “indie as fuck” rapper and producer El-P has resurrected himself as a gritty, hard-spitting rap hero. Along with Killer Mike, he deserves it. But why isn’t Aesop Rock getting the same kind of acclaim? Once the hero of El-P’s Def Jux label because of masterful albums Labor Days and Bazooka Tooth, Aesop has reduced neither his flow nor unpredictability. His Skelethon was as bombastic as the combined efforts of Killer Mike’s R.A.P. Music and El-P’s Cancer 4 Cure, collaborations that led to RTJ. —Brandon Soderberg
