ADF: Pilobolus

When: July 1-3 2010

They come bearing gifts. Festival favorite Pilobolus is back on the DPAC stage with their innovative works for the second year in a row. But Pilobolus and ADF go way back: The Connecticut-based company first performed at the festival in 1973, when they debuted Ciona. With two debuts last year, 2b and Redline, Pilobolus has upped the ante. The group is debuting Contradance, an ADF-commissioned world premiere in collaboration with Dan Zanes and Friends. (Taking advantage of the family-friendly pairing, a childen's matinee happens on July 3 at 1 p.m.) Pilobolus will also debut Hapless Hooligan in Still Moving, an ADF-commissioned collaborative work with Art Spiegelman, Pulitzer Prize winner for his graphic novel Holocaust memoir, Maus. It should be a treat for art lovers of all stripes. Performances run through July 3. —Sarah Ewald
