Abbey Road Live

When: Fri., Jan. 13, 9 p.m. 2012
Price: $7-15

Staying distinct from the Beatlemania approach, Abbey Road Live doesn't seek to slavishly reproduce the look and sound of the Beatles so much as approach the tunes as a music lover. Hailing from Athens, Ga., the quartet's members don't dress in suits or sport mop tops, but they do come bearing strings and horns to better recreate the Beatles' latter-era material. They're known to pull out some more obscure favorites, and the band features crack players who've worked with artists such as Indigo Girls, Julianna Hatfield and the Lemonheads. They're staying in town after Friday's 9 p.m. show for a Saturday kids' matinee at 1 p.m. Tickets to the Friday gig are $12 in advance, $15 day of show; for Saturday, it's $7 in advance, $10 day of show. —Chris Parker
