A Party for Blackspace

When: Fri., Nov. 4, 9 p.m. 2016
Price: $10-$12
Blackspace, downtown Durham’s community incubator for art, tech, activism, and conversations around Afrofuturism, raised more than twenty-four thousand dollars during this summer’s successful Kickstarter campaign. The space’s financial sustainability, however, is the focus for this Friday night fundraiser when griot singer Diali Cissokho and dance band Kaira Ba mix their Senegalese shake with The Beast’s beloved jazz-hop. Also, expect a special cameo performance from area puppeteer Jeghetto working the strings of his locally renowned futuristic puppet show, 5P1N0K10. —Eric Tullis
