A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To The Forum

When: Wed., July 7 2010

Stephen Sondheim's first music and lyrics credit on Broadway takes a more farcical turn than his later works in this classic 1966 film directed by A Hard Day's Night's Richard Lester. Zero Mostel reprises his Broadway role as the conniving Pseudolus alongside his Broadway co-star Jack Gilford, Phil Silvers and Buster Keaton in his last screen role. There's even future phantom of the opera Michael Crawford as the love-struck Hero. Old-school farce meets the new school of musical comedy in this show, which plays through Thursday night at 9:10 p.m. as part of the Carolina Theatre's Summer Repertory Film Series. —Zack Smith
