A Chorus Line

When: Oct. 14-19 2014

RALEIGH MEMORIAL AUDITORIUMThey're the survivors: the 24 sharp and savvy dancers left after hundreds of hopefuls were eliminated in audition rounds for a new Broadway musical. But an unseen director throws the competitors for four male and four female roles a curve in the final round: To get the part, each has to bare a part of his or her soul as well. This Pulitzer Prize-winning musical took nine Tony Awards for its revealing look at the backstage lives of New York dancers, as its sometimes witty, sometimes poignant characters count the cost of living the dream. 7:30 p.m. Weds.–Fri.; 2 and 7:30 p.m. Sat.–Sun., $25–$85, 2 E. South St., 919-831-6941, www.nctheatre.com. —Byron Woods
