Re: “Wake County Found an Extra $3 Million. Who Decides How to Spend It—Commissioners or Bureaucrats?

Respectfully, Mr. Goldsmith, you should learn to read the CAFR before publishing things that are NOT FACTUAL. What you've decided to write here is untrue and misleading, at best.

Re: “The $3 Million Question: Why Didn’t Wake Divert a Property Tax Surplus to Its School System?

I would encourage readers to look at other sources as this "article" is missing some key FACTS. So let's get this straight -- Ms. Holmes and Mr. Ford in the same breath say that any extra money (and this is a DUBIOUS claim indeed) should be directed to schools AND voted on? If they are both so concerned with public funds why are they not asking the WCPSS to spend monies they've already taken from the PUBLIC COFFERS ?
Their absolute disregard the needs of the community as a whole (where is their concern for public safety and mental health for instance) is a testament to their inability to see beyond their own set of biases and serve all their constituents.

Re: “Wake School Board Grapples with Getting Half of the Money It Asked For

Why isn't the Indy asking WCPSS why they believe they have the right to retain the $20,000,000 ? It's taxpayer money directly intended for the school system. If they have that much left over, then what didn't the WCPSS fund in previous years? The headline is misleading, where is the mention that the County Board contributed more than their original proposal ?
The WCPSS talks about mistrust but they do nothing to foster trust --especially with all the hyperbole and attempts at creating a guilt ridden environment. The WCPSS consistently practices a lack of transparency, proposes unsustainable and at times grossly incorrect projections- but they want the taxpayer to trust them? When questioned they get angry and obfuscate. Then, much like this article, the media spins the tale that the County is unwilling to support education. Where is the media holding the WCPSS accountable ? Where are the articles detailing how taxpayer money is spent or mispsent? Where is a full picture of spending by the WCPSS? Is it just easier to eviscerate a BoC that is attempting to reign in an unsustainable trajectory of spending ?
