Re: “Aqua North Carolina found a legal way to raise its rates—at customers' expense

My first AQUA water/sewer bill was a shocker having moved from Cary where Mr. Tom Roberts lives apparently. I live alone, take a few short showers a week, and my 3 weeks initial bill was over $85! Where in Cary it had been about $15-$25 for both water and sewer together. No difference in usage. And I'm at work away 5 days a week until 6:30PM at night and leave again by 8AM the next day. When I called the customer office (because on the first bill it even suggested I needed to check that there may be a water leak). I said that to the customer service person at AQUA NC and she said that "that must have been on my bill the leak thing and high usage as a mistake, that my usage was actually low. She also told me that their "base rate" was about $85/4 week bill for a 4 person household (I have 1 person in my household so how should I have to pay the same base rate as a 4 person family????). Then she claimed that the additional 100 gallons use is "very low for each extra $1000 gallons above the base rate", as if that was somehow supposed to make me feel better. Donna Potter, in Flowers Crest Subdivision, Clayton, NC. From what I read of how AQUA can legally adjust their rates upward after each purchase of fixer upper water systems or sewer systems, this all makes sense now. The trapped into their one choice of water supply, we have no choice but to pay for poor purchase decisions of AQUA NC. You'd think that AQUA NC might record their customer complaints and actually address them, I found the customer services lady quite blunt and rude. Now I understand why, they get loads of complaints because the water/sewer bills are "rigged" they call it legal, I call it unethical business bordering on illegal. Also a friend visited me last night and only washed her face before she went to bed with water from the faucet in my house, she woke up with hives/splotches and a headache and itchy face this morning. What chemicals does AQUA NC add to their water for Flowers Plantation? I googled it and could find no information on the web about what AQUA NC does as far as what they add to treat their water that may be an irritant to some people (or children)...? My water isn't a color, but I did detect a slight different odor a week ago from my upstairs tap (around July 29- August 1timeframe)...Donna Potter, in Flowers Crest Subdivision, Clayton, NC. Add a comment about AQUA NC to your facebook and twitter accounts news feed, to let more people know about how AQUA rates are sky high compared to city utilities in the same area.... There was an article in the Clayton newspaper about it yesterday also. Keep those articles coming people. These bills need to be half the "base rates" that company uses at present, and people should only have to pay realistically for what they USE, not some imaginary assumed too high "base rate"...
