Re: “Fracking central to North Carolina's energy future

The notion that North Carolina will be the primary consumer of its own fracked natural gas is preposterous. The fossil fuel energy markets are pure commodity markets, and raw natural gas has to be processed just like any other fossil fuel before it is consumed.

North Carolina can just as easily shift to additional natural gas usage without fracking.

North Carolina's legislature justifying fracking by a shift to natural gas consumption is analogous to Transcanada claiming the bulk of oil/gas through the KXL will be for the U.S. Hogwash. A huge chunk of that gas will go straight to Europe after it is refined.

In a nutshell: drawing a rhetorical link between local consumption and local extraction is a political lie. The political lie represents a sell-out to the largest fossil fuel companies to give them what they want: control over additional reserves.
