Re: “The fight to unionize the South brews at an N.C. slaughterhouse

I worked at Smithfield Foods before and after the union got voted in. I went to some of the union meetings and gave out leaflets trying to get the union in at Smithfield. To this day I regret it. All this union wants to do is get inside the plant to make money off the workers. I hate to say it but this is a sorry union. This union does a poor job of representing the people. When this particular union got voted in at Smithfield the working conditions had actually gotten worse. We were promised a huge 3 dollar raise when the union got voted in and we only ended up getting a 50 cent raise. Believe me there were a lot of mad workers, especially the workers who were already paying union dues. This Union is sorry and cares nothing about the workers who slave on the lines inside these factories, this union only cares to get voted in so they can make money off the sweat of these laborers--SHAME ON YOU UFCW 1208!!! You may fool the workers at Mountaire farms but the workers at Smithfield know how this union operates!!!
