I have had the privilege of meeting the entire Goodnight family on multiple occasions and I can definitely say they are some of the most likable, humble, and giving people you will ever meet. Dr. Jim Goodnight earned his money and gives back more than anyone even knows. The Goodnight family has done more for this city than almost anyone, yet if you asked the people of Triangle who Jim Goodnight was, I would be willing to bet that over 80% wouldn't have a clue. They don't do things like this for recognition. Also, with regard to the profit part, frankly, it is an expensive task to restore old buildings because they have to be brought up to current building codes, so the profit to be made is probably not that much either.
