Re: “Conceal-carry permit holders can now bring guns into restaurants and bars. What could go wrong?

Try to take the emotional factors out of this argument and look at it from points each side makes. Those against H937 believe blood will be spilled in bars and restaurants because people who legally carry are going to shoot when trouble surfaces. VA has had restaurant carry for at least 8 or 9 years and no incidents like that have happened. Gun owners think they need to protect themselves against the chance of these places being robbed or attacked. Aside from the few national mass shootings in the past 20 or so years NC has allowed conceal carry there have been no robberies or mass shooting in NC restaurants. Each side can take circumstances like people do statistics and twist them.

If you strip it down to the basic facts, those people who go through proper channels to get the proper permit to legally carry concealed are less than 5% of the NC population and most likely the most law abiding of us. They have taken a class on the laws behind carry concealed, undergone local and federal background checks and trained to required state levels with most going far beyond that. The people I fear most with guns are those who choose to pickup up a gun set to commit a crime with it and do not care what gun laws say unlike the 5% who legally are permitted to carry for self defense.

Yes, I do have a permit to carry. Funny thing is there have been quite a few times where a friend or even one extended family member start on this subject and I quietly sit there and smile and nod because they have no clue a law abiding carrying person like myself is sitting there and has been doing so around them for over the past 15 years and not one thing has happened good or bad.
