As an ordained minister, and as a straight ally, the narrow interpretations and cherry picked theology based arguments to support the amendment boggles my mind. The religious based intrusion into civil rights to deny a person his or her rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness is a prime example of where a minority voice seeks to dominate civil society.

The analogy that comes to mind is that of those extremist religious views in other nations against whom the US has gone to war. In effect, the religious extremism here is no different than extremist mullahs or the Taliban.

Sadly, the religious extremists here do not see their own actions reflected in this societal mirror.

The proposed amendment is clearly discriminatory and will not stand up to federal court ruling. yet those of us who are against it will be forced to have our taxes to pay for defending something we do not support.
