Re: “The Vintage church in Raleigh attracts young college students, but does its anti-women stance collide with its public image?

I think more progressives should call attention to the ways in which religious institutions perpetuate social oppression. Progressives call out practices that reinforce inequalities in nearly every domain of social life -- including their own social movements -- and churches are not exempt. Just because some people believe that a bible or some other religious text represents the word of some higher power does not believe that everyone else does, and the views religious leaders express have consequences for our larger social world. Thank you Indy!

People don't come here for nonpartisan advice. They come for partisan advice. IndyWeek is a progressive news source.

Re: “NCSU's Turtle Rescue Team helps wounded turtles come out of their shell

The turtle rescue group at NC State is fantastic. I found a turtle a few years ago, her shell damaged badly and refusing to eat. I called the turtle group and they nursed the turtle back to health for over a month before we released her back into the wild. These are tremendous students providing an excellent service to our community. Thank you so much! -Julianne Payne
