Re: “The GOP's free-market reforms are aimed at public education

Bill are you a product of NC's schools? Your subject verb agreement leads me to believe otherwise.... our latest graduation rates are way, way up -above 80% to be factual. Countries that support teachers with higher pay and unions do extremely well... google it... and study after study has shown that as a whole charters perform worse or on par with public schools.... not better... ever. I do agree we need different options for our students but nothing good can come from anything proposed by the fascist, semi-racist ALEC or their corporate agenda.

Re: “Republicans promise to get their way on charter schools

Gee privitizing the jails has created so many new millionaires and imprisoned so many of "those" people; just think what it can do for education. Tillis is immoral and basically nothing more than a bullying goon. I can't wait for the next election cycle- GO NCAE- you have the moral high ground on this one...

Re: “Same facts show different truths about being poor in N.C.

To the poster above my father lived in the mtns. of Nantahala during the derpession but it did not embitter him to the plight of the poor like you- He remembers when Roosevelt brought his dad a job building the farm to market road or 28 N now. He was a dynamite worker and it used to gross me out that he had only 2 fingers on his left hand but he used to say "honey them there is war wounds I survived the depression with a roof over my head and fed 12 kids and it is all thanks to FDR and the new deal don't ever let any rich sun of a beech tell you otherwise darlin--- Now that is an Appalachian memory and the reason native WNC people still vote democrat. The other grandparent built privies (outhouses) for the WPA and my father went to college the first and only one from his dirt-poor family on a GI bill after serving in Korea-- They were real Patriots and every time I see a Republican chicken hawk or Tea -Gagger I want to invite them to get the heck out of my country. Social programs implemented by Democrats saved both sides of my native mountain family and enabled my parents to send all of their children to college-- nuff said- something for nothing really makes my blood boil you selfish old thing--

Re: “The issues behind the color-coded Wake County schools plans

New studies from Milwaukee show that vouchers took them back to segregated schools and in florida you can buy a high school diploma from a christian high school for $ 400 and a take home test that 8 and 13 year olds can pass- Is this what we want in NC? I for one will fight the Republicans with my last breath- they will not destroy public education in my native state!!

Re: “In battling Republican lawmakers over the budget, Gov. Bev Perdue has emerged as a mighty opponent

I am so glad she is standing up to these bullies. So what exactly does privitization do for education? Well we could look at prisons for profit- turns out they cost TONs more money than public hmmm.. don't hear about that on Fox and fiends do you? Plenty of studies have shown private is not better but actually a lot worse than public services. Do not buy into the propaganda when you scratch the surface you see the real purpose of privitization-- when there are profits Republicans love them some privitization but when there are losses the same bunch suddenly feels hmmm. what is that word oh yeah.. socialist-- so profits go to companies and executives because their contracts are golden -but losses are the responsibility of the taxpayer-- If it doesn't add up that is because it is not supposed to- we are just supposed to lie down and be led like the sheep "mad vulcan" (okay interesting name-not) above and never do any research or think about what is actually reality-- Rem.. Republicans love to privitize but then demand socialist policies to protect their losses-- NOT FREE MKT--- just wrong and basically evil and greedy- You go Bev and we will win the house and senate next cycle and get these clowns outa there!!!

Re: “Rev. Barber, others, arrested at General Assembly: Video (w/ UPDATE)

The Republicans are the nothing but bullies and we know how to fight bullies- STAND UP TO THEM!!! This is not a black issue this is a moral issue and the Republicans are losing the issue because they are greedy narrow minded little men backed by racist, evil rich men-- I say take it to the streets, the house and then follow them home and picket them day and night-- I will take a shift- will anyone else?

Re: “Absolute power: An examination of Art Pope's dominance

Americans -you know the real Americans who support this great country are losing the battle to greed and corruption and ART POPE is just our states figurehead. If we just shrug our shoulders and hope the tide turns we will lose America- the real America where we believe all men are created equal. Men like ART POPE do not believe all men are created equal instead they feed the entitled empire and work to destroy the middle class because a middle class is awfully hard to control unlike you know the poor serf class they would like to see. It is class warfare out there and the working class is losing.
